1.7

Patch 1.7 of WoW came out last night. If you're a fan of WoW you most likely already know this. If you're not a fan then there perhaps isn't any reason for you to read the rest of this post. No, really I mean it - If you don't play WoW a lot of this will be all "Huh" and "WTF are you talking about". Even if you play WoW but aren't a Hunter, this may bore you to death. You have been warned.

Last night I was grinding in Ungoro Crater for about 2 hours. Grinding particularly effectively I might add. Zero deaths and getting about 25,000 XP per hour not counting quest handins. This speed for me is something unheard of outside of a really good group. I got into a rhythm and was taking down mobs 2-3 levels above me with relative ease. Even when I'd get multiple adds, usually my own fault for not picking my target properly or not pulling a mob out from his pack cleanly, I handled them without panic or death. Early in the evening someone in my guild ran into a piece of my Tier Zero set and mailed it to me for free. Jumping for joy I was. I need to hit the next level, 54, before I can use it which it why I'm trying to grind my way up as fast as possible.

Anyway ... 9pm rolls round and messages start appearing that the server will be going down for scheduled maintenance. Now these usually happen just before midnight (my local time) on Tuesdays. It occurring this early meant that the content patch was coming out. I was a bit annoyed because I wanted to continue my good grinding run but 1.7 has been anticipated for some time now so I went to bed not too annoyed.

My main dude is a Hunter and that class get some love in this patch. Some of the morning has been wasted looking at the new talent trees and trying to decide what to spend my refunded points on. Previously I was 5 Beast Masery, 46 Marksmanship and 0 Survival (very much the same at 90% of other Hunters). I wasted a lot of time trying out various options before settling on this:

I didn't want to give up Trueshot Aura but I did want to get Trap Efficiency so sacrifices had to be made. Oh well, if I don't like how this turns out I may respec back to something closer to what I originally had. Yeah it's a non trivial cost for me to do that now and I do really need to start saving money but I'm bound to find that this just isn't working out for me after a couple of days :)

Perhaps I should switch to this:
