Don't be a smart arse dickhead and maybe you'll have more listeners

I used to listen to a podcast called "We Hate Tech". It's two guys who, suprise suprise, talk at about technology and basically bitch about stuff. They aren't luddites; it's one guy who appears to know quite a bit about what's new and what's coming up, although no more than anyone else who reads slashdot and IDG, and one guy who knows a lot less. Shawn and Chuck from "Game On" are pretty much the same pairing of one guy who knows everything and his friend who doesn't, only they are not complete arse heads about it.

We Hate Tech's own description is "We hate Tech is a show about Ranting, whining and info from jaded Network Administrators". Now I have nothing against ranting and whining about anything but the guy who does know stuff continually nitpicks everything that his counterpart says. It just comes across as if he's trying to make himself sound smart rather than actually being smart. Podcasts with two or more speakers are typically a lot more interesting to listen to than just one person droning on and on but the second person shouldn't be there just as your verbal punching bag.

The last show of We Hate Tech that I listened to before unsubscribing was one where they started recording their show at midnight, continually commenting on how they were "staying up late". Now I may be old and crusty but anyone older than 14 who thinks not being asleep at midnight is "staying up late" needs to wake up in the 21st century. Unless you're some form of farmer whose daily cycle must revolve round the milking of your cows, being awake at midnight isn't hard core. Oh and burping into your microphone thinking it's funny? Maybe they really are 14 years old and just sound like they're in their 30s.
