Bethells Beach

After our initial mini-holiday plans were washed away, Paula booked the 3 of us into a cottage at Bethells Beach. IMHO, "Bethells Beach" should have a possessive apostrophe in it but apparently I've been reading too much Eats, Shoots & Leaves because their website, yellow pages and most of the internet disagree with me. The Bastards.

Arriving in the middle of the night, well it was dark anyway, is not to be recommended if you've not visited the place before. I'm sure the roads and signs were placed to get people lost rather than actually be helpful. In the end we managed to find the place and get unpacked. We even managed to find the sugar, with the assistance of only one phone call.

Morning broke to a great view of the beach. Of course I'd left the camera back at the apartment, a fact I'd rue for the rest of the stay. Hardly a breath of wind, combined with bright sunlight made for a great start to our stay.

The arrival of Sue the masseuse at 10am was also much welcomed. Sun streaming through conservatory windows onto your back as oil get rubbed into your skin, yeah, I recommend that. I'd have liked a week of days similar to this. That wasn't to be though. May = Rain.

We came back to Auckland and got a day relaxing at home before I had to go back to work. Well, relaxing isn't the right word. The cottage was relaxing, home is just "not work". That's good enough for me though.
