Cashless days

Last Monday I was without my wallet having unfortunately left it in the car and someone, just because she owns the car, decides to leave with it. 2 days with no wallet; no problem I thought.

I didn't realize just how often I actually use the damn thing.
  • I had to get Adam to buy me lunch one day - the other, I went home for a mid afternoon snack.
  • I went to buy something online and although I know my credit card numbers off by heart, I don't know the 3 digit security codes printed on the back - no spare 1G compact flash cards for me. Probably a good thing really since I've already got more than I ever use.
  • I had to taxi into town for a doctor's appointment. First I had to travel to a foreign exchange place, and pay that cab with 50 cent pieces, to get the Australian and American dollars I had changed to good old NZD so I'd have enough real money to get a cab to the doctors and from there back to work.
  • At least the doctor took a cheque. I did have the sense to take my passport as ID.
  • No stopping off at the dairy on the way home for some healthy snack treat either (yeah, right).
At least I didn't leave my work keys; home keys; access cards; etc, in the car. Living in the street and not being able to go to work would suck. Well, living on the street would anyway.
